TAS Waves

The wave buoy deployed in Storm Bay is maintained through a partnership between the IMOS Coastal Wave Buoy Facility (IMOS CWB; based at the University of Western Australia) and Salmon Tasmania. This co-invested wave monitoring site is jointly supported by Huon Aquaculture and Salmon Tasmania.

Salmon Tasmania is the Tasmania Salmon Farming Association and manages collaborative waterway environmental assessment and monitoring programs across several farming regions around Tasmania. Collaborative research for the salmon industry is centralised through the Farming Association through an Industry Partnership Agreement (IPA) with the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC). Salmon Tasmania works with a wide range of marine consultants and research organisations to manage the marine resource in which aquaculture occurs around Tasmania.

Salmon Tasmania manages a range of marine programs, both regulatory and non-regulatory. These programs include reef surveys, water quality monitoring, seagrass and sensitive habitat monitoring, marine sediment programs, deep reef system assessments, and threatened species surveillance. Some of these extensive and on-going programs have over 15 years of continuous data attributed to them.
